There are free electronic medical records software programs thanks to the open source software offered by numerous vendors. These software applications are downloadable from the internet and installed into the health care giver’s computers. Though they have the minimal functionality required for operation, they still need some modifications and adjustments in order for them to operate or function, as the physician would like and to meet the minimum acceptable standards by set by the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology when it comes to meaningful use. Therefore, most of them are web-based solutions. If one was looking for a client-server solution then they would have to settle for the Low end versions of full fledgedEMR Systems or Commercial EMRs supported by ads and selling of anonymized data (data which has been stripped of identifying attributes) both offered at zero cost. This in essence means there are no free electronic medical software solutions in the market.
